Camp Structure
Willkommen bei Sachsenhausen! Sie sprechen Deutsch, richtig? Oh, my mistake. I thought you spoke German. In that case, I will translate. I said, "Welcome to Sachsenhausen", the model camp and "brain child" of Hitler's chief architect Albert Speer. We trust you had a pleasant journey from Berlin? We have been awaiting your arrival.
Please, come in. We're glad you're here.

As you can see, there is plenty of space for our detainees. Ignore the people taking pictures; they are inspectors just like you observing our model camp.
To the left you see an example of the camp buildings - the kitchen, the hospital, etc. Nothing much to see here, at least from the outside. Please, feel free to approach any of the buildings or structures (click on the images). We want you to seem the up close!

To the right are the barracks. Plenty of room and able to accommodate 140 prisoners, depending on size.
And yes, don't worry, we keep the Jews in a separate barrack. Who'd have known that one of them would actually set fire to to one? Ridiculous...
If you follow me, I'd like to show you our defense systems. We don't want people coming and going at will!
These electric fences are freshly installed! Anyone who even steps on the gravel gets shot! And in the event that we "miss", the electric shock sure won't!

We call it the "neutral zone", and the phrase
"Es wird ohne Anruf
sofort scharf geschossen"
Translates to, "No warning shots will be given"
Let's continue on to the rest of the camp.
